Curie Institute is a non-profit foundation by Marie Curie at the heart of the Montagne Ste Genevieve Campus, comprising the highest density of high excellence interdisciplinary research and education in France. It strongly promotes interactions between fundamental research and medicine. Institut Curie’s Hospital is a pioneering treatment Cancer Center totally dedicated to cancer treatment. The main malignancies treated in Institut Curie include breast, eye, pediatric, gastro-intestinal and gynecological cancers. It receives per year 75,000 visits, for a total of 30,000 patients (7500 new ones each year) with a strong focus on the development of innovative early phase clinical trials. Institut Curie gives access to state-of-the-art core facilities (next generation sequencing, genomics, microscopy, mass spectrometry, animal facility, automated-imaging cell-based facility…) as well as large clinical databases and biobank of both solid and liquid tumour samples, under the control of the Institute’s Biological Resources Ethical Committee. The Medical department of Curie Institute will provide access to clinical samples under strictly regulated and extensively documented protocols (about 3000 per year in breast cancer). The “circulating tumour biomarker laboratory” is involved in several European multicentres clinical trials regarding the diagnostic and prognostic value of circulating tumour cells and ctDNA.
