The group members constitute a strong team for translational breast cancer (BC) research with a well-functioning infrastructure representing the basis for a number of large multicenter prospective translational/clinical studies within breast and lung cancer. The members have close interaction with the clinic and with the national clinical groups. The institute has been active in research related to

•    isolated tumour cells in bone marrow and blood (detection technologies, standardisation and clinical validation)
•    molecular biology of breast and lung cancer
•    exploring the systems biology of breast cancer using high dimensional data in integrated approaches
•    ctDNA and miRNA in blood, and whole genome sequencing of single cells (DTCs/CTCs).

The principle role in the CANCER-ID project will be to provide valuable clinical samples from blood and primary tumours, cross-testing of technical methods and clinical validation.
