The Department of Oncology of the University of Torino (UNITO), School of Medicine is located at the Candiolo Cancer Institute, in Candiolo, Italy.
The Department encompasses experimental and clinical researchers and aims at making significant contribution to the fight against cancer by understanding the basics and by providing optimal diagnostic and therapeutic services. The Institute employs over 300 scientists and is a recognised centre for training young researchers in the experimental medical science field. The Dept. of Oncology at Candiolo Cancer Institute is fully equipped to perform the experimental approaches described in CANCER ID.
Equipment includes:
- automatic DNA sequencers (Next Seq 500 Illumina; 454 Roche)
- multiple PCR machines
- DNA minipreps apparatus
- volumes robotic handler
- spectrophotometers
- multiple, Fluorimager and Phosphoimager,
- fluorescent Activated Cell Sorter.
In 2010 Prof Bardelli has established a liquid biopsy facility at the Dept. of Oncology UNITO which will be exploited in CANCER ID.
