Founded in 2001, TATAA Biocenter is world’s largest organizer of hands-on training in quantitative real-time PCR, Europe’s leading provider of nucleic acid analysis services, and leading developer of tools and technologies for nucleic acid analysis. TATAA is serving majority of world´s largest Pharmaceutical companies, hundreds of innovative small enterprises and academic and government institutions. TATAA´s researchers have published over 100 peer reviewed papers including the MIQE guidelines cited over 2000 times (Clinical Chemistry 55, 4, 2009) and produced 20 patents protecting technologies behind products currently on the diagnostic market. TATAA´s own portfolio covers more than 25 in-house developed products sold globally by TATAA and its distributors or through global companies based on licensing agreements.

TATAA´s role in CANCER-ID is to coordinate the work on microRNA analysis comprising development of SOP’s for the different platforms used (selected qPCR, microarray and NGS strategies), including relevant controls, and establishing of a workflow for data pre-processing, including normalization, quality assessment and analysis. Results from the three platforms will be compared for consistency and basic performance parameters will be estimated. This will constitute a base on which future CEN/ISO guidelines can build upon. TATAA will also contribute to single CTC expression profiling with assay design and optimization of workflow, and will coordinate hands-on training courses offered by the consortium.
